Counseling Guidelines:
As part of the ministry available at the Orchard we offer consultation with one of our pastors about personal, relational and/or spiritual matters.  While not licensed counselors nor holding advanced degrees in counseling our pastors have studied various approaches and have helped many people work through their problems successfully.  A consultation at the Orchard is usually an hour and allows the person to fully express concerns in a compassionate atmosphere.  The consulting pastor responds with questions for clarification and to stimulate self-reflection. All conversation with an Orchard pastor in a consultation session is confidential.  When necessary several sessions can be scheduled but our pastors are not available for long term counseling.  Our pastors are also alert to refer people dealing with issues beyond their training to professional counselors.  If during consultation one of our pastors determines that a person may be in danger of harming him or herself or others, a licensed professional counselor will be called in for evaluation.  Orchard pastoral consultation is essential Biblical discipleship.  A person usually seeks pastoral consultation when they are dealing with a personal or relational problem.  These problems often indicate areas where a person isn’t taking full advantage of the resources offered by our loving Heavenly Father, provided by Jesus’ death and resurrection, mediated by the Holy Spirit within the Christian and described in the Bible.  The consultation session typically involves prayer to provide the person with new insight and perspective from God.
