Day 4: He Himself Is Our Peace

Day 4: He Himself Is Our Peace
Read: Ephesians 2:13-18
Slow Down

God’s Word does not only say Jesus gives peace. It says, “He Himself is our peace.”
That is deeper.
Peace is not first a mood, a personality type, or the relief that comes when everything finally works out. Peace is a Person.
Jesus is our peace because He deals with the deepest brokenness first. He makes peace between us and God.
We often chase peace by trying to control our circumstances. We want the room quiet, the relationship fixed, the money settled, the calendar clear, the body healed, the future known.
Those desires are not wrong. But even if every circumstance changed, our souls would still need the deeper peace Jesus came to give.
We need reconciliation with God. We need forgiveness. We need mercy stronger than shame. We need grace deeper than failure. We need the war underneath every war to be dealt with.
At the cross, Jesus did not pretend sin was small. He carried it. He did not ignore evil. He absorbed judgment. He did not manage hostility. He killed it.
He did not offer a temporary truce. He brought real shalom.
A truce pauses hostility. Shalom heals it. A truce says, “Let’s stop fighting for now.” Shalom says, “What was broken is being made whole.”
This is why Jesus can stand among fearful disciples and say, “Peace be with you.” His peace has scars. His peace has passed through death. His peace has already faced the deepest darkness and come out alive.
So today, do not reduce peace to a feeling, a quiet day, or circumstances you can manage. Receive Jesus Himself. He is not merely the giver of peace. He is our peace.
Reflect
• Where are you trying to find peace mainly by controlling outcomes?
• What would change if you received peace as a Person before you felt it as a feeling?
• Where do you need to stop settling for a truce and allow Jesus to bring true shalom?
Pray
Jesus, You Yourself are my peace. Forgive me for chasing peace while resisting surrender. Bring Your shalom into what is fractured in me. Make whole what I cannot make whole myself. Amen.
Practice
Three times today, pause and pray: “Jesus, You are my peace.” Let that be enough for the next moment.
