Mandi Read
Children's Pastor

Mandi devotes her life to children and has been a teacher for over twenty years. As a passionate educator, she works with kids from preschool through high school in a variety of settings. Most recently she taught at Cornerstone Christian School, which is where she learned how amazing it is to have the opportunity to pray with and disciple children. Not only does she love working with kids, she also has a heart to bring parents together to raise Christian leaders, and to serve families in our community.

Ellen Morrison
Ministry Administrator

Ellen brings experience in management, communications, and publishing across both nonprofit and for-profit organizations, including roles with Science Magazine, a web-based PR firm in Washington, D.C., and a sports marketing agency. She enjoys occasionally singing with the worship team and considers it a blessing to spend time outdoors, support local arts and nonprofits, create art, cook and bake, and care for her Irish Doodle. She is deeply thankful to be the mother of two cherished children—one a college sophomore and one about to graduate high school, and she is continually grateful for the ways faith, family, and community shape her life.

Annie Stephens
Executive Assistant
She first heard the Gospel message when she was 26 and gave her life to Jesus shortly afterwards. In those early years as a Christian, God planted a seed in her heart to work with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). Four years later, after applying to work with British MAF, she was introduced to Randy Stephens who was on his way to Africa for his first assignment as a pilot/mechanic with MAF. It was love at first sight … and the rest is history. Annie and her husband served with MAF for 16 years in Lesotho, where their two boys were born, and later Kenya, with some years in between fundraising and visiting supporters. The Church at Carbondale and The Church at Redstone were a significant part of their support. Just before they left Kenya, their eldest son, Michael, died from malaria. Throughout her journey of grief, Annie has held on to her deep faith in Jesus and God has given her a supernatural joy despite the tragic loss of her son.
In 2000, Annie, her husband, and their son David, moved back to the Roaring Fork Valley where Randy grew up. Annie began working as Executive Assistant to one of the Campus Vice-Presidents at Colorado Mountain College until she retired in 2017. Annie is passionate about sharing the love and joy God has given her in good times and bad, and to inspire and encourage others. She loves to use her organizational skills to help others be the best that they can be. Oh, and she loves to laugh - in an English accent of course!
Dr. David Courson
Discipleship Pastor

After serving as an Associate Pastor and Lead Pastor in California and Hawaii, David founded and directed the Searchlight Bible College in the Republic of Vanuatu. He met his wife, Robin, after preaching in her church in San Diego. They were married two years later and moved to Hawaii where Robin taught in the local elementary school and David taught at the University of Hawaii and served as Director of Calvary Chapel Bible College.
David is a decorated U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran, and has directed Christian emergency relief missions in warzones and disaster areas to over 30 nations. He regularly speaks for churches, universities, and civic organizations on the Biblical mandate of Christian missions.
David and Robin live in Basalt and are thrilled to be actively involved in the remarkable ministry of The Orchard. You are warmly invited to join them on a short-term foreign mission or enroll in one of “Equipping Center” classes offered at The Orchard.

Jessica Gonzalez
Events Manager/Facilities

Jessica is a proud Carbondale local and a 2005 graduate of Roaring Fork High School. She spent 16 years at the District Attorney’s Office walking alongside victims of crime with compassion and strength. During the pandemic, God opened a new door, leading her into financial coaching
A powerful encounter with Jesus drew Jessica back to her church roots at The Orchard. What began with serving in the café and joining the worship team quickly grew into leadership. Shortly after leaving the District Attorney’s Office, she joined The Orchard Team as the Events Manager and overseeing Facilities.
Jessica has a deep passion for meeting new people and connecting others in meaningful ways. She is married with two children, and after her husband survived a life-altering explosion that changed their family forever, her faith in Christ has become the foundation of her strength, her marriage, and her motherhood. Today, she lives to serve, lead, and help others walk boldly in faith.
