Imagine biting into a lemon. Your body reacts — even though nothing happened.
Your brain does not fully distinguish between imagined and actual events.
When you imagine disaster, your body releases stress hormones. Your heart rate rises. Your nervous system activates.
You can physically suffer from futures that do not exist.
Reflect:
When anxiety rises, pause and take 3 slow breaths.
Remind yourself: “Nothing is happening right now.”
