Day 2 — Close to Jesus, But Missing Him

Day 2 — Close to Jesus, But Missing Him

Bible
Luke 19:41–42 (NLT)
“But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep. ‘How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes.’”

Matthew 7:21 (NIV)
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven…”

Devotional
Palm Sunday is a sobering moment.
The crowd is celebrating.
Jesus is weeping.
Why?
Because they were close to Him and still missed Him.
They saw a King, but not the right kind of King.
You can attend church, sing songs, and know about Jesus and still miss Him.
Because proximity is not the same as surrender.
Jesus wasn’t hidden from them.
They just had already decided what He was supposed to be like.

Reflection
Where might you be near Jesus but not fully surrendered to Him?
Is your faith more familiarity or obedience?

Prayer
Jesus, I don’t want to just be near You. I want to know You.
Open my eyes to see You clearly.
Show me where I’ve been close but not surrendered.
Lead me deeper.

Action
Take two minutes today in silence and ask,
“Jesus, what are You trying to show me that I’ve been missing?”
