Day 3 — The King They Wanted vs The King We Need

Day 3 — The King They Wanted vs The King We Need

Bible
John 18:36 (NLT)
“My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom…”

Isaiah 55:8–9 (NIV)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

Devotional
The crowd on Palm Sunday wasn’t wrong to call Jesus King.
They were wrong about what kind of King He was.
They wanted political power, immediate change, visible victory.
Jesus came with humility, surrender, and sacrifice.
We still wrestle with this today.
We want Jesus to fix our situation, make life easier, and align with our agenda.
But Jesus doesn’t come to fit your life.
He comes to transform it.
He is not here to support your plan.
He is calling you into His.

Reflection
Which version of Jesus are you most tempted to follow?
Do you want Him to make life easier or make you new?

Prayer
Jesus, forgive me for the ways I’ve tried to shape You into what I want.
Help me see You as You really are.
Give me the humility to follow You, even when it’s not what I expected.

Action
Today, when you pray, ask this first:
“Jesus, what do You want from me?”
before asking, “What do I want from You?”
