Day 1 — Come Home

Day 1 — Come Home
Read: Luke 15:17–24; John 14:6
The younger son came to his senses and said, “My father’s house is better than this. I will get up and go back.” While he was still far off, his father saw him, felt compassion, ran to him, embraced him, and kissed him. Then the father said, “This son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” Jesus also said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
The prodigal story is beautiful on its own, but Easter tells us why it is possible. The Father can welcome us because Jesus opened the road home. The resurrection means the way is not closed. You do not have to wonder if there is a path back to God. In Christ, there is.
This matters even after salvation. Believers still drift. We still numb out. We still try to hide in shame. We still forget that the road home stays open because Jesus lives. Coming home is not just the beginning of the Christian life. It is the rhythm of it. Again and again, believers return to the Father through the Son.
Reflect:
  1. Where have I been distant from God lately, even if outwardly I seem fine?
  2. What am I tempted to run to instead of bringing my heart back to the Father?
  3. Do I really believe Jesus has opened the road home for me today?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that because Jesus rose again, the road home is open. Bring me back from distraction, numbness, and distance. Teach me to come to You quickly and honestly. In Jesus’ name, amen.
