Day 5 — Live as a Son or Daughter
Day 5 — Live as a Son or Daughter
Read: Romans 8:14–17; 1 Peter 1:3–9
Those led by the Spirit of God are children of God. You did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but the Spirit brought you into adoption, and by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” Peter says God has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
The resurrection does not just mean you get into heaven later. It means you live from sonship and daughterhood now. Romans says you are not a slave falling back into fear. You are adopted. You belong. You are in the family. That means your Christian life is not meant to be lived with the posture of a hired hand, nervously trying to stay employed. It is meant to be lived with the security of a loved child.
And Peter says this gives us a living hope. Not a vague optimism. Not spiritual sentiment. Living hope means the resurrection is active and present. Jesus is alive now. Your inheritance is secure now. Your suffering is not wasted now. Your future is not fragile now.
So how do believers respond to Easter? With gratitude. With confidence. With worship. With hope. And with a heart that says, “Father, I’m home, and I want to live like I belong to You.”
Reflect:
Father, thank You for adopting me through Jesus. Thank You for a living hope that cannot die. Help me live this week as Your child — secure, grateful, and full of hope. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflect:
- Where am I still living more like a slave than a son or daughter?
- What fear keeps trying to pull me back into old thinking?
- What would gratitude look like in my life today because Jesus is alive?
Father, thank You for adopting me through Jesus. Thank You for a living hope that cannot die. Help me live this week as Your child — secure, grateful, and full of hope. In Jesus’ name, amen.
