Back to the Boat: Day 1
Back to the Boat: Day 1
Key Verse:
“So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.” — John 21:3
Peter had already seen the risen Jesus, but he still went back to the boat. Why? Because shame has a way of pulling us backward. When we feel hurt, disappointed, or disqualified, we often return to what feels familiar, manageable, and safe. Peter goes back to fishing, and all night long he catches nothing. It is a picture of what life apart from deep trust in Jesus feels like: busy, active, exhausted, but empty.
Questions:
What is my “boat” right now?
Where do I tend to go when I feel ashamed, hurt, or numb?
What have I been trying to manage without trusting Jesus?
Takeaway:
Going back may feel familiar, but it will never heal what only Jesus can restore.
Prayer:
Jesus, show me where I have gone back to the boat. Help me stop hiding in what feels safe and begin trusting you again.
