Day 3: The Wrong Yoke
Day 3: The Wrong Yoke
Read: Matthew 11:29 to 30
Jesus does not say, “If you are tired, remove every yoke.”
He says, “Take my yoke.”
That sounds strange until we realize everyone has a yoke.
Something is teaching you how to live. Something is telling you what matters. Something is telling you who you have to be. Something is telling you what will make you enough.
Even religion can become a heavy yoke when it becomes performance without relationship.
Some of us are not weary because Jesus is heavy. We are weary because we are carrying things Jesus never asked us to carry.
Jesus’ yoke is not the way of shame. It is not the way of pretending. It is not the way of trying to earn what God gives by grace.
His yoke is His way of life.
Come learn from Me.
Come follow Me.
Let My words shape your life.
Following Jesus does not mean life becomes easy. You may still suffer. You may still face hard things. The diagnosis may not change overnight. The relationship may still require work.
But Jesus is not crushing you while you walk through it.
His burden is light because His heart is gentle.
Ask yourself:
What yoke have I been carrying lately?
Approval? Control? Shame? Performance? Secret sin? The need to be needed?
Where am I exhausted because I am carrying something Jesus never asked me to carry?
Prayer:
Jesus, show me the yokes I have been carrying that are not from You. I do not want to live under shame, fear, control, or performance. Teach me Your way. Help me take Your yoke and walk with You. Amen.
Today’s step:
Name one wrong yoke out loud in prayer. Then say, “Jesus, I trade this for Your way.”

- The question is not whether you have a yoke.
- The question is whether you are carrying the wrong one.
