Day 2: The Fire That Does Not Destroy

Day 2: The Fire That Does Not Destroy
READ: Exodus 3:2-4; Isaiah 43:2

TODAY’S TRUTH
Yahweh can come near in the fire without destroying what is left.

The bush was burning, but it was not burned up. That is the miracle.
A burning bush in the wilderness is not surprising. Dry things burn. Fragile things burn. Life burns things down too.
Divorce can burn something down. Betrayal can burn something down. Diagnosis, failure, grief, and seasons you never chose can burn something down.
Moses knew something about a life that did not turn out the way he expected. He had lost the palace. He had lost position. He had lost the future he may have imagined. But when Yahweh came near, He came in fire that burned without destroying.
That tells us something about God. God is holy. God is powerful. God is not manageable. But He is not cruel.
Yahweh does not come near to finish Moses off. He comes near to call him by name. He comes near to redeem what is left.
Maybe something in your life feels burned down. The invitation today is not to pretend it does not hurt. The invitation is to bring what is left to Yahweh.
REFLECT
What part of your life feels burned down, damaged, or beyond repair?

PRAY
Yahweh, I bring You what feels burned down. I do not know how to fix it. I do not know how to redeem it. But I believe You can come near without destroying what is left. Meet me in the fire. Amen.
