Day 3: Near, But Holy

Day 3: Near, But Holy
READ: Exodus 3:4-6; 1 Peter 1:15-16

TODAY’S TRUTH
Yahweh is near enough to call your name and holy enough to call you to surrender.

God called Moses close. Then God told him to take off his sandals.
That is important. Yahweh is near, but He is holy.
We tend to struggle with one side or the other. Some people think God is holy, but not near, so they hide from Him. Others think God is near, but not holy, so they treat Him casually.
But Exodus 3 will not let us choose one. God is near enough to call Moses by name. God is holy enough that Moses takes off his sandals.
This is a needed word for people who have followed Jesus for years. It is possible to know the songs, know the Bible, serve in ministry, and still lose reverence. It is possible to carry God’s name casually. It is possible to want God to bless a life we have already decided to live.
Before Moses is sent by God, he bows before God. That order matters.
The God who comes near also calls us to surrender. Not because He is trying to take life from us, but because He is calling us into true life.
REFLECT
Where have you been treating God casually? Where do you need to stop, turn, and obey today?

PRAY
Yahweh, You are near, but You are holy. Forgive me for wanting Your comfort while resisting Your lordship. Show me where I need to take off my sandals. Teach me reverence again. Amen.
