Day 1: Going Back to What We Know
Day 1: Going Back to What We Know
Scripture
John 21:1-3
"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you."
Reflection
Peter had seen the risen Jesus. He had heard the promises. He knew the mission wasn't over.
Yet when uncertainty arrived, Peter went fishing.
Fishing wasn't sinful. It was familiar.
When life gets confusing, most of us do the same thing. We return to what feels safe, predictable, and comfortable. We go back to old habits, old patterns, old coping mechanisms, old identities.
When we don't know what's next, we often choose what we've always known.
The problem isn't fishing. The problem is settling for yesterday when Jesus is inviting us into something new.
Questions
Jesus, help me trust You when I don't know what's next. Give me courage to move forward instead of retreating to what feels safe. Amen.

Questions
- Where am I tempted to go backward instead of forward?
- What familiar pattern do I return to when I feel uncertain?
- What might Jesus be inviting me into today?
Jesus, help me trust You when I don't know what's next. Give me courage to move forward instead of retreating to what feels safe. Amen.
