Day 3 - God Works In Setbacks
DAY 3 — GOD WORKS IN SETBACKS
READ — Philippians 1:12 (NIV)
Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.
REFLECT
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
REFLECT
God, I don’t always understand my setbacks. But I choose to trust You in them. Show me where You are at work. Amen.
READ — Philippians 1:12 (NIV)
Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.
REFLECT
- Paul’s imprisonment looked like failure.
- God used it to spread the gospel.
What looks like a setback may be part of God’s strategy.
- God used it to spread the gospel.
- Where has my life gone off script?
- What emotions rise when I think about that situation?
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
REFLECT
- God sees a bigger story than I do.
- He can bring good from what others meant for harm.
- Looking back, can I see any way God has used a past setback for good?
- If I’m still in one, what would it look like to trust Him there?
- What is one way I will choose trust over fear today in a situation that feels like a setback?
God, I don’t always understand my setbacks. But I choose to trust You in them. Show me where You are at work. Amen.
