Read: Philippians 3:15–21
- 15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
- 17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
- What is currently shaping the direction of your life more—your earthly priorities or your heavenly citizenship?
- Who are you intentionally watching or imitating in your life right now, and where is their life leading you?
- What would it look like to live, love, and act as a “citizen of heaven” here in this life?
Additional Scripture: Hebrews 12:1–2
- Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
- What is getting in the way of you following Jesus right now, and what is one thing you could let go of this week?
- What have you been focusing on more than Jesus lately, and how can you turn your attention back to Him this week?
Prayer
Jesus, help me keep my eyes on You.
Renew my hunger.
Give me strength to keep pressing forward. Amen.
